Regulations on Student Self-Government
Student self-government is an integral part of the educational process in modern higher educational institutions. It is a system of organizing students, which promotes the development of leadership qualities, social activity and independence of young people. The institute, as an educational institution, becomes a space for the implementation of these tasks, and student self-government acts as a tool for interaction between students, administration and teachers.
The main tasks of student self-government:
- protection of the rights and interests of students;
- assistance in the fulfillment of students' duties;
- assistance in the educational, scientific and creative activities of students;
- assistance in improving the living and recreational conditions of students;
- assistance in the creation of various student clubs, societies, associations;
- promotion of a healthy lifestyle;
- involvement of parliament and students in volunteering;
- assistance to the university in carrying out all events.
Student self-government is based on the following principles:
- voluntariness, collegiality, legality and openness;
- equal and decisive participation of members of the Student Self-Government;
- activity, volunteerism and creative initiative;
- openness and publicity;
- democracy;
- humanization and establishment of partnership relations between the administration and the student self-government, between the teaching staff and the student community;
- taking into account the individual interests and characteristics of students.
The main functions of student self-government are:
- protection and representation of the rights and interests of students;
- promotion of public, social and professional self-realization of students.
- provision of proposals for improving the quality of education taking into account the scientific and professional interests of students;
- holding organizational, scientific, cultural, mass, sports, health and other events;
- activities aimed at raising the awareness of students, their demands for the level of their knowledge, and fostering patriotism;
- informing students about the administration's decisions concerning students;
promoting cooperation and exchange of experience with students from other higher education institutions and youth organizations.
